Meta lets AI agents configure WhatsApp Business
Meta has released a Model Context Protocol server that allows AI agents to automate the tedious setup and management processes for WhatsApp Business, streamlining developer workflows.

Meta announced the launch of the WhatsApp Business Tools MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. This tool connects AI coding agents—such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, or ChatGPT—directly to the WhatsApp Business Platform. Instead of manually navigating between the Developer Console, Meta's Business Manager, the API reference, and a code editor, developers can now use conversational prompts to instruct their chosen AI agent to handle the entire onboarding and configuration process.
The new MCP server allows AI agents to automate several administrative tasks. These include creating a WhatsApp Business account, adding and verifying phone numbers, registering for Cloud API access, and checking the business's Terms of Service. Beyond initial setup, the AI can draft or edit messaging templates based on natural language descriptions, test webhooks and messages, and monitor background processes like payment methods and business verification status that might otherwise fail silently.
This release expands Meta's existing suite of MCP servers, which already includes the Meta Social Technologies MCP for managing advertisements and monitoring application configurations. Developers can combine these servers to discover API endpoints, search documentation, and troubleshoot errors during setup.
